THIS is the weekend that will decide the SMP. 26 players selected Barbie (average placement 7.7 with a #1). 22 players selected Oppenheimer (average placement 9.2 with a high of #8). 14 selected both while 4 selected neither. Based on the weekend’s projections and excellent RT scores it’s looking like those who picked both will be the envy of the pool. $158M for Barbie?!?!?!?
Get ready, as the competition is about to ramp up quickly. After this weekend we should be looking at 11 movies with $100M+, and if projections hold we should also see Oppenheimer join in quickly. Sound of Freedom just this week crossed $100M and is now pulling the same daily earnings as M:I7. We may even see The Flash drop out of the Top 10 as soon as Monday. And keep an eye on Fast X, as its disappointing final total of $145M might just be the next to fall.
