Hoping everyone here is enjoying a nice and relaxing Labor Day holiday. The summer movie season is finally (and sadly) over and we are pleased to share that we have ANOTHER first time winner of the SMP! We also had a Standings shakeup as a flip-flop ranking in the Top 10 resulted in a new 3rd Place winner.

Big congrats to THOMAS FARRELL for not only getting 9 correct picks but also hitting a single digit Deviation Score with excellent placement to earn 1st Place. KENT WALTON was the only other player with 9 correct and awesome picks to secure 2nd Place. Both were geniuses to pick F1: The Movie AND Final Destination: Bloodlines. JOSHUA BERGMAN was the lucky beneficiary of The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ final weekend surge to climb into the #4 spot, lifting him all the way from 6th Place a week ago into 3rd Place.

And let’s not forget the big winner of our Bonehead Award for that early May selection of Flight or Flight ($3.5M)… BENLIN ALEXANDER. Congrats to you all!

Holdover News

  • #1 Lilo & Stitch shot up +4,033.2% with a surprise addition of 2,385 theater screens this weekend. After 15 weeks Lilo finishes atop the list with $422.9M and at #40 on the All Time list.
  • #2 Superman made another $2.5M, and at a final $351.0M moved up one spot from #76 to #75 on the All Time list.
  • #3 Jurassic World: Rebirth made $1.4M, and at a final $337.8M moved up from #83 to #80 on the All Time list.
  • #4 The Fantastic Four: First Steps continued its recent surge with an outstanding hold of -18.5% for $4.9M and a final total of $264.7M, good for #142 on the All Time list. That one spot climb in the final SMP Top 10 made all the difference for our 3rd Place winner.
  • #5 How To Train Your Dragon shed all the theaters it surprisingly added one week ago, and after a $149K weekend has a final total of $262.8M to move one spot higher at #144 on the All Time list.
  • #6 M:I – Final Reckoning is done $197.4M.
  • #7 Thunderbolts* is done at $190.3M.
  • #8 F1 made another $1.1M for a final total of $187.8M. Close, but just short of another ladder rung climb.
  • #9 Final Dest: Bloodlines is done $138.1M.
  • #10 Weapons has yet to have a drop greater than -44% in any of its four weekend holds, and after another $10.4M (-32.1%) has a final total of $132.6M. After one more weekend and it will leapfrog Final Destination: Bloodlines, but as far as the SMP is concerned it finishes at a still-impressive #10.

The SMP Final Recap will come out later this week. Stay tuned!
