It only took three weekends for the summer to go sideways, as Final Destination: Bloodlines blew away projections with a hair-raising $51M opening. Bloodlines is now the biggest horror opening of the year (yes, even better than Sinners’ $48M), and is already better than the final tally for two of the prior five films in the franchise.
Year | Opening (M) | Total (M) | |
Final Destination | 2000 | 10.0 | 53.3 |
Final Destination 2 | 2003 | 16.2 | 46.9 |
Final Destination 3 | 2006 | 20.1 | 54.1 |
The Final Destination | 2009 | 27.4 | 66.5 |
Final Destination 5 | 2011 | 18.0 | 42.6 |
Final Destination: Bloodlines | 2025 | 51.6 | ??? |
Kudos to the seven players who picked it, as while it’s not yet a lock it’s definitely got the inside track with plenty of time left including the upcoming holiday weekend. I’d say that next weekend’s big budget action flick could put a quick end to Bloodlines, but with a 93% RT score and B+ CinemaScore it very well may be the other way around.
