We have entered the final month of the SMP, and if these reviews hold we are looking at a quality weekend for all three new Wide releases. But quality clearly doesn’t equate to box office. We haven’t seen a straight comedy all summer long, so with all the praise that the new Naked Gun (1 player) has been getting it would be a real disappointment to only see a $15M opening. The top newcomer is expected to be The Bad Guys 2 (6 players) at $21M. Looks like another weekend where Marvel will double up the competition.
