After a weekend “off” we get a crack at a (hopefully) decent box office with both new releases being selected by players. Bad Boys: Ride or Die (picked by 33) is at the very least least more mainstream than either Fall Guy or Furiosa. The Numbers is projecting $44M, but I’ve already seen Deadline post a potential $50M weekend based on Thursday night previews ($5.9M) + Friday pacing $20-21M. As evidenced by that RT Audience score, America loves their Bad Boys.
No one seems to like The Watchers (picked by 4), and it’s projected to do just $10M after earning only $1M in Thursday previews. The RT Critics Consensus says, “Heavy on eerie mood but undone by an obtuse script, The Watchers can only hold the gaze for so long before tedium sets in.”
