Another Top 10 adjustment as Downton 2 is out and Crawdads is in. For now.
But not that DC League of Super-Pets is looking like any kind of serious threat to Top 10. Not after a pathetic opening of $23M for DC’s only entry this summer. Even with 4 full weekends remaining and an A- CinemaScore I don’t trust it can surpass The Black Phone for #10. I hate to say it, but 32 of us likely got screwed over by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart… and those damn Minions. A full month of box office remains and I’m thinking $90-100M will be the cutoff for #10 this year.
Weekly Top Gun: Maverick update: Another $8M (only an 18% drop) keeps it at #9 ALL TIME with $650M, and the jump to #7 might come as quickly as next Sunday.
Next Weekend: 3 new Wide releases, and the one that matters is the eagerly-anticipated Bullet Train (selected by 36 players). Hopefully this flick is enough fun to wash off the stench of Super-Pets.
